Exploring the Unique Flavour Profile of Tanaka Vietnamese Whiskey

The world of whiskey is vast and filled with unique flavors, with each region offering its own twist. Vietnam has stepped into this global arena with Tanaka Vietnamese Whiskey, a spirit that brings both taste and cultural significance. In this post, we'll uncover the characteristics, production methods, and cultural importance of this intriguing whiskey.

A Glimpse into Vietnamese Whiskey

Tanaka Vietnamese Whiskey is a fresh face in the global whiskey market, yet it carries a rich cultural heritage. Distilled mainly in Vietnam's mountainous regions, this whiskey encapsulates not just a drink but a taste of the country's vibrant history.

The Production Process

Ingredients

The essence of Tanaka Vietnamese Whiskey lies in its ingredients. The distillers use a blend of local rice, barley, and unique herbs to create a spirit that stands out. Unlike many whiskeys that focus solely on grains, the use of rice in Tanaka adds a sweet, smooth character.

Distillation

After selecting premium ingredients, Tanaka undergoes double distillation, which purifies the spirit and enhances its flavors. The distillation process often takes place at controlled temperatures to ensure that each batch captures the essence of its components. Post-distillation, the whiskey is aged in oak barrels. Some barrels are seasoned with local spices or even tropical fruits to enrich the whiskey's complexity.

Cultural Context

Significance in Vietnam

You will often find Tanaka whiskey highlighted during significant events like weddings or Tet, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year. Its ability to pair seamlessly with local cuisine enriches both the dining experience and relationships between those sharing a meal.

Now whilst all of the above sounds interesting, we have not sampled this whiskey. We have only found this bottle in one Bodega (Spain) and nowhere in Scotland or the UK.

Our thinking is that the Far East Palate is quite different to Scotland/UK/Europe.

WE have found one taste review which was less than flattering, however we look at things from a different angle. Our collection of Non Scottish Whiskey is gathering pace.

We now have whiskey distilled in Sweden, Denmark, England, Brazil, Vietnam and Japan.

We are always on the lookout for something different whether it's for our own collection or a wee stoater we can make available to you guys.
