ARDNAMURCHAN 6yr OLD

A super early independent bottling from Cadenheads, only their 2nd bottling from The Ardnamurchan Distillery. This is one of the newest Scottish distilleries and it's the only one on the Ardnamurchan peninsula. To get there involves a long drive to either Oban or through Glen Coe and over the bridge at Ballachulish and then the shortcut is to take the ferry at Corran or you can drive round Loch Linnhe to Ardgour and continue a particularly scenic drive on a mostly single track road to this distillery. 
Ardnamurchan is classed as a Highland distillery even though it's situated on the rugged west coast of Scotland and close to the most westerly point of the UK mainland. 
DGSM were extremely lucky to secure this bottle which was distilled in 2016.
Whisky production started in 2014 which means this single cask bottle was distilled before a single bottle of whisky was old enough to be called whisky and not a single bottle had been sold by the distillery.  Ardnamurchan's own production for years 2016 & 2017 was a mere 2500 bottles per year. 
This Olorosso sherry matured single cask single malt was distilled early in 2016 and bottled in 2022. The cask yielded 324 bottles. 70cl, cask strength 56.0% abv. bursting with flavour for such a youngster.
 
Tasting notes - 
Nose ... Floral, smoked paprika & chocolate orange.
Palate ... toasted marshmallows, honeycomb covered in milk chocolate, campfire smoke.
Finish ... Orange marmalade, caramel shortbread, savoury notes.
